General Plan Update
The City of El Centro General Plan is the big-picture policy document that provides a vision for our City’s future. Each chapter of the General Plan, called an element, guides the City’s approach to a particular issue. The Land Use Element tells the City where and how different types of land use should be allowed. The Mobility Element outlines the transportation network for different types of travel within El Centro. The Environmental Justice Element identifies ways that the City can address pollution and other environmental concerns that impact the people and habitat within El Centro.
Public participation is an essential part of the General Plan Update process, and we want to hear from you. Attend one or more of the outreach events to provide your input on the future of El Centro.
The City of El Centro is preparing a Program Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) for the General Plan Update in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations. A Notice of Preparation (NOP) has been prepared and a 30-day scoping period was held between July 17, 2020, and August 16, 2020. A NOP Scoping meeting was held Thursday July 30, 2020 at 11:00 am.
